ENS Course Overview

The National Association of Safety Professionals (NASP) Environmental Specialist certification course provides a thorough review of regulations from the EPA, RCRA, SARA and other agencies that may impact industrial facilities. This course gives students the knowledge they need to understand and implement environmental safety precautions that protect employees and the environment from hazardous materials and waste.

Other topics covered in this course include:

  • An overview of hazardous materials handling procedures.
  • Permits for air and water waste.
  • Information about hazardous waste management, operations and emergency responses.
  • Spill control and containment plans for industrial oil.
  • Energy and natural resource preservation information.

The ENS course takes approximately 13 hours to complete, depending on your existing knowledge of environmental safety regulations.

  • Continuing Education Units

    (1.30) CEUs are offered for this course. As an IACET Accredited Provider, NASP offers IACET CEUs for its learning events that comply with the ANSI/IACET Continuing Education and Training Standard. CEUs will be reflected on the Certificate upon successful completion of the course and passing the exam. Partial credit or adjusted CEUs will not be awarded for individuals who do not successfully meet the criteria for achievement of CEUs.

  • Online Exams

    The student will take a comprehensive online exam at the end of the course. You must score 80% to receive a certificate. You have two opportunities to pass the exam.

  • Recertification

    A refresher course and exam will be required every three (3) years. The cost of this recertification is $150.
