In 2015, OSHA issued a new standard for construction work in confined spaces. While general industry standards specify protocols for operating in these spaces, OSHA determined that a specialized set of standards was required for construction work because of its unique conditions, including rapidly shifting workspaces and inherently high employee turnover.

CSS – Construction Course Overview

The NASP Confined Space Entry Specialist online course is designed to focus on the specific hazards associated with operating in confined spaces on construction sites. This construction-specific confined space entry training program delves into the employer’s responsibilities for identifying hazardous confined space entry points on a worksite and conforming to the most recent OSHA regulations.

Topic covered in this course include:

  • Identifying confined permit spaces.
  • Evaluating and addressing potential hazards in these spaces.
  • Posting notices to employees regarding potential hazards.
  • Using monitoring equipment and personalized protection equipment in confined spaces.
  • Dictating roles, responsibilities and requirements for supervisors, entrants and attendants.

Our CSS – Construction course takes approximately eight hours to complete. At the conclusion of this course, students should have the knowledge they need to create and implement compliant plans for confined space entry safety in construction.

  • Continuing Education Units

    (0.80) CEUs are offered for this course. As an IACET Accredited Provider, NASP offers IACET CEUs for its learning events that comply with the ANSI/IACET Continuing Education and Training Standard. CEUs will be reflected on the Certificate upon successful completion of the course and passing the exam. Partial credit or adjusted CEUs will not be awarded for individuals who do not successfully meet the criteria for achievement of CEUs.

  • Online Exams

    The student will take a comprehensive online exam at the end of the course. You must score 80% to receive a certificate. You have two opportunities to pass the exam.

  • Recertification

    A refresher course and exam will be required every three (3) years. The cost of this recertification is $150.
