Position Summary:
This position will oversee the safety on several construction projects in the Ft. Myers, FL area. The role is predominately a field position with some office work. This person will work with our corporate trainers and main office personnel to form a formidable team-based approach to our client’s safety program.
- Work with the Project Manager to facilitate the safety portion of the pre-bid, pre-construction and monthly safety meetings.
- Work with Project Manager & Site Supervisor to design site safety plans for each job assigned and help with implementation.
- Review any contractor and/or sub-contractor site safety plans.
- Cultivate an engaged, and informed safety culture.
- Lead daily safety “tailgate” meetings.
- Conduct daily site safety audits and inspections with detailed reports & give feedback to site supervisors.
- Conduct incident investigations to determine casual factors and a safe plan of action.
- Continuously examine work sites to identify hazards in the workplace. Updating the site safety plan to reflect the new hazard and how to mitigate it. Then retrain employees of the new hazard and how they are to manage it.
- Continuously monitor employees making sure they are conducting daily equipment inspections and documenting accordingly.
- Monitor and interpret federal, state, and local safety and health rules and regulations which impact the business units and recommend compliance options in conjunction with safety policies and programs.
- Assist the Project Managers and Site Supervisors with safety questions, issues, and resolutions.
- Maintain a good working knowledge of current safety regulations and serve as a resource to management and employees on interpretation and compliance.
- Engage and influence management to help develop their responsibility and leadership in safety in their locations. Assist site supervisors with contract safety questions and compliance paperwork. Input all computer and paperwork needed for contractor safety and compliance.
Qualifications:
- Must enjoy working outdoors
- OSHA 510 Certification – preferred
- OSHA 30 HR Card in Construction – required
- Minimum of 10 years of prior related experience in the construction industry as a safety professional
- Bachelors’ degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene or related is preferred
- Must have experience in accident investigations
- Have strong regulatory knowledge in federal, state and local EPA, OSHA, DOT etc. regulations.
- Must possess current equipment trainer certification in Forklifts & MEWP’s.
- Have strong organizational skills.
- Have exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be able to lead by example.
- Must have working experience with Microsoft software (Word, Excel, etc.).
- Must be able to manage safety programs at multiple job sites.
- Must have a teamwork mentality.
Requirements:
This is a 1099 contract position. Must be willing to carry a $500,000.00 professional liability insurance policy.
